Game making

Wow the good old pick a paths books are back - we are know trying to make our own games and here is the context...The world has gone dark and all civilization as we know it has gone...you wonder through the forrest and find a glowing sword that pulls you near it ...you see a dark figure emerge from behind the sword. At first you are afraid and try to pull away however the sword is drawing you in and th dark shadow reveals itself and whispers three words...you are the one...
So now im going to make a game with this context. Will post soon guys.

Lil Einsteins

Last week as you all should know William came to Rotorua Intermediate School and spent most of his precious time in our awesome class (B3). He shared with us what it is like to live in Zambia. Some of the things William shared with us was you do not really buy food in Zambia you basically grow your own food. you do not really have neighbourhoods you have villages. We have heard many inspirational things from William and I am shore our whole class has loved the experiences of having William come to our class. One of the highlights is when William came to the disco and he was krumping for about 5 minutes.

Kidsline Win!

Hey everyone It's Mozzi. I have some really exciting news. You know how every year Kids line hosts a competition to see who can come up with the best poster? Well I got a commended placement in the 2008 Kids line Poster Competition in my age group and only 25 kids get chosen through out the whole country! How awesome is that? I will be receiving a pink Nintendo DS and a certificate of congratulation together with a Nestle pack. You might be thinking well what did you do to win this prize. Well, I came up with the idea to draw 4 forks and 1 spoon and with the phrase saying do you feel like the odd one out, the 4 forks was also very colourful and around them it had a bright light of yellow and the spoon was colored in black and around it was nothing just white space. My poster also included the number for Kids line. I am just so happy that I won that prize! I could just scream! At the bottom of the page is Kids line's number. Well beta get going bye!

So if your feeling down in the dumps or just need someone to talk to just give Kids line a ring on 0800 54 37 54 63. It's FREE! and it's confidential. Kids line is open between 4 - 6 pm weekdays. So what is there to lose? Go on give it a try!

Geographic Kids Blog 04 / 08 / 08 - 09 / 08 / 08

Today William from Zambia came to our school ! He is here for 1 week and we have had an awesome time so far. We have taught him some jump jam and he loves it. We also taught him how to use a computer and he was very stunned. He has an awesome personality and he makes everyone smile ! We are looking forward to having the week with him ! We have organised a disco on Thursday 08 / 08 / 08 for him and we are going to have lots of fun learning and watching different cultural dancing.

We had to research What is a code of ethic. All the groups managed to find this out and we also ad to do our own group motto.

During Maths this week we had to do a Geometry pattern to go on the walls to show geometry shapes. There are some very nice colourful patterns up on the wall and they are all good quality.

For art we had to create a new olympic mascot that is designed on a t-shirt. There are some nice creative mascots up there and they are all different and unique in their own ways.

Term 3

Haha yes it is Term 3 already a big jump from week 4. As bloggers know sometimes it is hard to keep up to date with blogging (especially if you have 6). So this term we are focussing on Power in Unity-Relationships in sports as it is topical with the Olympics. Over the next 10 weeks students will be blogging as this way it is more rich and relevant to their learning. I hope you will enjoy reading about our trials and tribulations.

Week 4 already

Kia Ora All

Well we can't believe it is week 4 already. There is a buzz in the class with the upcoming disco on Thursday. Today is crunch time for most of the class as they are presenting their powerpoints and movies on the differences between students here and students in Zambia. I will be assessing them on their team work, research skills and accuracy of Information. We are all looking forward to seeing them share their ideas. Thursday is really going to be an action packed day with our class making it throuh in the school talent show. So can you imagine what my day on Thursday is going to be like!!!!

Next week we are starting our Action learning Research where groups will formulate their own questions and then work together to create a social action to answer and support their topic.

We are also doing really well in the cross countrey competition and house points.

Will keep you posted.

First Blog

Kia Ora

I am Whaea Vanessa and I am the teacher of this great class. This term we are looking at Amazing Africa as I have just returned from a teaching exchange in Zambia. We are looking at Global Communities with our focus on students taking responsibility for their world and uniting students within a global community.

we have a dynamic class with a great variety of talents. We have the cross country champion Aidan Nairn, Basketball super star Elyus Soloman who has represented our region, Kirsten Plowman a champion dancer in jazz and hip hop the list goes on. I will share more of these success stories as time goes on and so will the students.

This blog is really for any students who want to see what is going on in our great town Rotorua and Country New Zealand.
